SIMPLE TYPER
DESCRIPTION:
Simple Typer allows you to use your PC like a regular
typewriter for one-time printing of envelopes, memos, or
forms.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
The options at the main menu allow you to select either
line-by-line (prints each line) or character-by-character
(prints each character as it is typed). Both options are
available for buffered and unbuffered printers.
Note: If you are unsure whether your printer is buffered or
unbuffered, simply try each option.
The bottom of the screen contains three command options.
These options may be accessed by pressing the <ESC> key and
then using the right/left keys to make your selection.
Select - This is the current menu being displayed;
Info - An additional HELP screen;
Exit - Exit the program and return to DOS;
Press <RETURN>
When you select a menu option you will be prompted for
margin and tab settings.
Margin Settings - You will be first prompted to set the
left margin. Use the right/left arrow keys to select the
desired margin spacing. You will then be prompted for the right
margin. Use the cursor arrow keys to set. If you simply
want to use the default settings (1 and 80), just press
<RETURN>.
Tabs - To set the tabs, use the right/left arrow keys to
move to each desired tab position, pressing <RETURN> for each
tab. When you have selected all desired tabs (or none),
press <ESC>.
You will then go to the entry screen. At the bottom of
the entry screen are four command options. These options may
be accessed by pressing the <ESC> key and then using the
horizontal keys to make your selection.
Margins - Reset either the left or right margin.
Tabs - Reset any or all of the tabs.
Note: When resetting the Margins or Tabs, the screen will
clear. This will not affect the printing. All previous
settings will be cleared, when resetting.
Main - Returns you to the Simple Typer Main Menu.
Exit - Exit the program and return to DOS.
Line-by-Line mode - When operating in the line-by-line
mode, limited editing is available. To correct mistakes on
the current line, press the backspace key and then re-type
your correction. The right cursor arrow key may be used to
return to the end of the line. The regular <INS> and <DEL>
keys will not function.
You may type past the end of a line in line-by-line mode
by pressing the <Ctrl> and Z keys, provided you have set the
right margin to 70 or less.
